In my working life I direct Dalhousie’s central web team, but I’ve been studying the history of Islam part-time here since 2004, taking classes with Colin Mitchell, Amal Ghazal, and Rodica Firanescu.
I’ve become fascinated with the origins of the Qur’an, and am reading in preparation for writing a thesis proposal on the concept of Creation in the Qur’anic textual tradition(s). I’m happy to have as my thesis supervisor Sasha Treiger, who has been cross-appointed in History from Classics.
My undergrad degrees at Saint Mary’s University were in Mathematics & Computing Science, and English, and I previously completed (1997) a Master’s in English here at Dal.
My profile photo is from Palmyra, Syria, from a six-week trip that I took in 2007.
